Annie Riviere
Born 1961 - Avignon, France.
Annie carries on the painting tradition of her family inspired by great-great grandfather, Alfred Riviere, a painter in 1890. Annie as a child was attracted to singing and painting. She won several competitions as a singer while she continued her painting. In 1994 she studied painting and sculpture under Thomas Patai, teacher from Budapest Arts Academy for seven years. She has chosen to use oil painting in an "impressionist" technique. She uses the color right from the tube without any adjunction and never uses black. Her works remarkably capture the essence of Provencal landscapes, lavender and poppy fields. Annie's inspiration comes from walking though beautiful areas of Provence such as the Apilles hills where she discovers sites that inspire her. She walks the walk of Provencal areas that attracted many painters over time such as Cezanne and Van Gogh. Annie has an advantage because she has always been dazzled by the souvenirs of her native Provence and her paintings reflect not only art but her heart.
Collectors from around the world seek out Annie's paintings with awe and delight in her versatility as she draws them into a still life, landscape, or quaint village. Her oil paintings capture the magnificent Provencal sunlight beyond belief! Keep your eye on this exhilarating emerging artist!
Riviere's works were shown for the first time in the USA at the Jo-Gi Gallery, Chicago, in 2002 and now exclusively in Naples, FL.
