Jean Louis Duplaix
Born in 1955, France.

A multi-talented artist! The major part of Duplaix's career has been that of an acclaimed Actor - "Comedian" (MOLIERE, MARIVAUX, PREVERT, Marcel AYME, Roland DUBIL, LARD, Christian DOB, etc.). His performances were applauded in many continents. In 1994, he suffered an illness that affected his ability to memorize texts. His days in the theatre were brought to a halt. However, being a multi-talented artist, he was encouraged by his long-time friend, Jean Pierre LAGRUE, another multi-talented artist, to pursuit his talent as a painter.

Jean Louis DUPLAIX is the promising student of LAGRUE and has jointly exhibited with his mentor over the past few years. In fact, as part of his apprenticeship under Lagrue his first exhibition was with Lagrue in Lyon, France and featured as "The Painter and the Student". DUPLAIX is gaining momentum and has been well received in his personal expositions in France. His style ranges from "primitive" gypsies, to bold colorful countryside gardens, to humor and satire in such as "The Man & the Pigeon" (A man's shoe is about to step on a crumb of bread as the pigeon races against time for his share of the bread before it stepped on!) DUPLAIX carries his innate sense of comedy into many of his paintings as well as dramatizes his characters as in the "Young Boy Walking Down a Path to Somewhere". His "cats" series are absolutely delightful and very popular with collectors who have an affinity for paintings that capture the versatile spirit of the cat. He enjoys bringing "theatre" to his paintings! This self-taught emerging artist has a promising future according to many collectors who are increasingly being exposed to his work. Duplaixs works were exhibited in 2000 for the first time in the USA at Jo-Gi Gallery in Chicago and now exclusively shown at Jo-Gi Gallery in Naples.
